BARCELONA - Barcelona masih membutuhkan jasa Eric Abidal. Tak heran, finalis Liga Champions musim ini menyiapkan kontrak baru buat bek asal Prancis itu.

Sebagaimana diberitakan Sport, Sabtu (7/5/2011), kontrak Abidal akan berakhir pada musim panas 2012 mendatang. Namun, pemain yang beroperasi di bek kiri tersebut tidak perlu khawatir dengan masa depannya.

Sebab, manajemen berniat untuk mempertahankannya dan sudah menyiapkan kontrak perpanjangan selama dua tahun lagi. Kabarnya, Abidal akan melakukan tanda-tangan dalam beberapa hari mendatang.

Kedua belah pihak memang belum mengomentari mengenai masalah ini. Namun, kemungkinan besar pernyataan resmi akan dikeluarkan dalam waktu dekat. Sejak bergabung 2007, Abidal memang menjadi salah satu pilar andalan The Catalan.

Tapi sebuah berita kurang sedap menghampirinya pada Maret kemarin. Abidal diagnosa mengalami sakit tumor hati. Namun, kariernya terselamatkan ketika manajemen memutuskan untuk melakukan operasi.

Hasilnya, Abidal kembali bermain ketika berhadapan dengan Real Madrid, pada babak semifinal leg kedua yang berlangsung di Camp Nou.
