MU dan Barca dekati kasta Elit

Manchester - Musim ini dipastikan koleksi trofi Liga Champions Manchester United atau Barcelona menjadi empat. Itu berarti, mereka tinggal butuh satu gelar lagi untuk memasuki kasta elit Eropa.

UEFA memberikan penghormatan kepada klub-klub yang memiliki prestasi bagus di kompetisi Piala Champions/Liga Champions. Ukurannya adalah jumlah trofi yang dikoleksi.

Klub yang telah mengoleksi minimal lima trofi secara total, atau berhasil meraih tiga trofi secara berturut-turut, berhak mengenakan emblem Badge of Honour di lengan seragam mereka.

Real Madrid, AC Milan, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, dan Ajax Amsterdam adalah klub yang sejauh ini menyandang badge of honour.

Anggota jajaran klub elit Eropa tersebut boleh jadi bakal bertambah, dengan Mancester United atau Barcelona sebagai kandidatnya.

Barcelona sejauh ini mengoleksi tiga gelar yang mereka dapatkan di tahun 1992, 2006, dan 2009. Jumlah serupa juga dimiliki oleh MU yakni di tahun 1968, 1999, dan 2008.

Gelar keempat dipastikan diraih oleh salah satu kesebelasan tersebut pada musim ini. Itu berarti mereka tinggal butuh satu trofi lagi untuk bergabung dengan kelompok badge of honour.

"Kami menatap rekor tim lain dan kami berusaha untuk menyamainya. Kami melihat rekor Real Madrid, Milan, Ajax, Bayern Munich, dan Liverpool dan kami sangat ingin bisa secepat mungkin masuk ke level tersebut," demikian kata manajer MU Sir Alex Ferguson akhir April silam, seperti dilansir dari Independent.
